Possible offseason option for NYG?

Post  Big_Pete on Fri Oct 23, 2009 8:12 pm

AJ Hawk is one guy I would like Reese to look at trading for after the season.

He isn't a good fit for the Packers D, but would be a great addition for us

I really like the idea of teaming Hawk and Boley on passing downs

Linebacker A.J. Hawk's role has diminished this season on the new Dom Capers-run defense for the Green Bay Packers. Thus far, he's played when the team is in a base defense, but has been replaced when the nickel personnel package is deployed.

In spite of this decreased role, Hawk will make a cool $3.025 million in base salary this season, and is scheduled to have that bumped to $4.1 million in 2010. Additionally, he seems OK playing a lesser role as long as the team is winning. "Regardless of how many reps I'm getting right now I still want to be here," he told the Green Bay Press-Gazette. "I'd much rather be not playing as much as I'd like on a good winning team and a solid organization than starting for a team going 2-14."

The Press-Gazette's Pete Dougherty adds another caveat to Hawk's hypothetical: the team will likely ask him to take a pay cut, too, if he wants to come back for 2010. So, we'll see how much Hawk likes playing for the Pack when he's getting fewer reps -- he had a grand total of 9 against the Lions on Sunday -- and making fewer dollars.

I liked Hawk coming out of the draft and thought he would make a big impact. Not quite sure what the problem is he's having over there but he could really play ball while at Ohio St.

it is simple, Hawk is probably limited to playing 4-3 WLB, where he can play in space and use his speed.
he isn't a good fit for a 3-4
