I am not sure the 49ers are out of the running for Harbaugh yet, but he is a great fit in Miami with his "power west coast offense".

Wade Phillips was a very good move for the Texans.
I like that Frazier gets a shot with the Vikings.
Jason Garrett will be out in a year maybe two if he's lucky.

Now its rumored Harbaugh is not going to Miami. Bad situation for them now.

the solution is to fire Ireland and hire Cowher.
This situation can get real ugly, real fast.

Dolphins humiliate Sparano, then keep him
January, 7, 2011
By Tim Graham
The Miami Dolphins will retain Tony Sparano and have abandoned their courtship of Stanford head coach Jim Harbaugh.
How's that for awkward?
Dolphins owner Stephen Ross, close friend and former Kansas City Chiefs executive Carl Peterson and general manager Jeff Ireland flew to the Bay Area to meet with Harbaugh. They reportedly were prepared to offer an annual salary between $7 million and $8 million. The Dolphins previously also approached Bill Cowher about taking over as head coach, but were rebuffed.
Back at the Dolphins' headquarters in Davie, Fla., Sparano reported for work Thursday and tried to pretend as though his future would not be determined by a college coach's willingness to hijack his job.
I doubt Sparano leaned on the windowsill and eagerly waited for Ross to return home.
Perhaps Sparano spent the day playing solitaire on his desktop or standing at the Xerox machine, making copies of all the Dolphins' files. Committing himself to helping the Dolphins get better couldn't have been easy, not while his bosses were on the other side of continent, wooing his replacement.
And that will be a huge problem moving forward.
How can Sparano have any faith in his front office when they will chase any hot number who will bat an eyelash?
Sparano's relationships with Ross and Ireland have been damaged and must be repaired. It won't be easy, no matter how much of a happy face they all try to put on.
They embarrassed Sparano, a coach who guided them to the AFC East title one season after they went 1-15. He was just as responsible for changing that miserable culture as Bill Parcells was.
What has transpired over the past 72 hours has made the Dolphins a laughingstock.
Eric Stangel, lead writer for "The Late Show with David Letterman," tweeted Thursday night: "How is it that the Jersey Shore cast has shown better people skills than Miami Dolphins management?"
Sparano has been undressed in front of the NFL community, and the humiliation will continue because he has little choice but to return to work Friday and go about his business. I wonder if the Dolphins will hold a news conference that would force Sparano to express his gratitude.
What kind of clout can Ross expect Sparano to have in the locker room now? The Dolphins have shown a more emphatic commitment to some players than they have to Sparano here.
The front office has created a working environment where it will be more difficult for players to respect the coach because ownership didn't believe in him.
Whether or not Sparano might feel compelled to quit, he cannot. He would forfeit his paycheck and might be labeled a quitter.
Being an NFL coach has been Sparano's dream, and there are only 32 of these precious jobs. If he were to tell the Dolphins to pound salt -- as satisfying as that might be -- there are no guarantees he would get another shot to be a head coach.
The thing about Sparano is that many Dolphins love playing for him -- even if their disgusting 38-7 loss to the New England Patriots in the season finale didn't show it. He's a fiery leader. He's a man's man. He cares.
Maybe the players will rally around him.
At this point, that's about all the support Sparano can draw from. He and the rest of the world know the other important people in that facility wanted to dump him

that's bad management on Dolphin's part and will question any decent head coaches decision to go there in the future.

Dolphins cancel press conference; spoke with Mangini
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on January 7, 2011, 5:04 PM EST
Stephen Ross
Now that Jim Harbaugh drama is out of our lives, we can focus on the real circus in the NFL: The Miami Dolphins.
The team has canceled a 4:45 p.m press conference that was expected to confirm Tony Sparano was staying as head coach. We previously passed along a Miami Herald report that the team was talking about Sparano about an “adjustment” in his contract.
It’s not a shock that those talks have apparently hit a snag considering the awkward nature of Miami’s coaching search. It gets even stranger.
Jeff Darlington reports that the Dolphins scheduled a meeting with Eric Mangini that was ultimately canceled Friday. After “persistent” requests, the Dolphins admitted the meeting was set up.
They say it was for a “consultant” role because Mangini knows the AFC East so well.
One would think they’d lock in a head coach before calling in Mangini to consult, but owner Stephen Ross has consistently conducted himself in such a ridiculous manner the last four days that it’s hard to be surprised.

What exactly has Mangini done in the nfl to get so many opportunities, that's all I'd like to know?

I am still a little concerned about Denver. Guys like Mularley and Williams have pulled out. Fewell may not be the front runner, but he is in with a good shot.
Oakland could also be a darkhorse, lets see what they do.
I hope Fewell comes back.

Rob Ryan is on the way out in Cleveland.
Want to bet that he joins Rex in NJ as DC/Assistant Head Coach?

The downside of course is that many of the Panthers coaches who are currently available will likely get hired by Fox.
I hope Coughlin and Co hurry up with the coaching evaluation.
I really want to see Richard Smith as our LB coach (and wouldn't mind seeing Jim Skipper as our RB coach)

Re: NFL Coaching Changes (Hired and Fired)
Good move for the Broncos getting an established Head coach.
Fewell was the Rooney rule guy this year. The teams who brought in two minorities did that to avoid being accused of toying with the rule. Fewells defense blew two big games down the stretch and with that blew our chances at the playoffs and his at becoming a HC this year.
He is not a candidate in Oakland. That job looks like its Hue Jacksons.
I'd like to see Rob Ryan here holding some type of title. I've been a fan of Robs for a while. But I think he'll be a DC somewhere maybe Dallas, San Fran, or San Diego takes a look at him.
