Kickoff Rule Changes Approved
Today, the NFL chose to move the kickoff to the 35-yard line as opposed to the 30-yard line... how do you think this will effect the game?

I don't like it one bit. I remember the days when they kicked off from the 35, like they will be doing again now. It sucked then and will suck again.
The only ones to benefit from this are the kickers without a strong leg.
Why take away one of the most fun parts of watching the game.
From a fan's perspective, what would you rather see; Lawrence Tynes finally kick one into the end zone or Domenik Hixon take one to the house? no brainer imo.
Other rules to take place:

I don't like this one either. Then again, I don't like instant replay at all. Why bother having officials on the field at all if they don't have to make any major decisions? I'll take the good calls along with the bad. It's what keeps the game entertaining.All scoring plays – not just those in the final two minutes of each half -- will be subject to replay review by the booth instead of requiring a coach’s challenge;

And all playing fields must be green in color after the league worried about a franchise imitating Boise State’s infamous blue field.

Changing the kickoffs I'm against. I didn't think anything was wrong with the way it was.
I like the booth review of all TDs. Take the time to get the game right. Too much is affected by a blown call.
Word is we were the team trying to get a blue field.

Kinda figured that was a Jerry Jones type of thing. Either way, still don't like it.Pizan wrote:Word is we were the team trying to get a blue field.
I've tried watching a couple of those Boise State games and after a while staring at that blue field really annoys me.

Do you think they're trying to "improve the safety" of the game to allow two more games?

Yes, well sort of.Scout200 wrote:Do you think they're trying to "improve the safety" of the game to allow two more games?
I think the nfl and its players are both kind of playing mind games with each other.
In my opinion;
The players most outspoken gripe is about the injuries with 2 more games added on. Now, of course nobody wants injuries but what the players are really saying is "we want more money." without having to play two more games.
So the nfl's lame attempt is that less injuries will happen with less kick-offs returned, fines for helmet hits, late hits, looking at the qb the wrong way, etc...
The nfl will soon be like watching a nascar race without the crash.
Certainly nobody wants to see the drivers get hurt but they still want to see the car flipped over, crushed in, and driver running around in flames just before getting sprayed out by the fire extinguisher. All this with no harm done of course.
If the nfl and it's players really care about all these injuries then what they need is more shared game time with back-up players.
Give the backup qb's some real practice time throughout the week.
Six or eight dedicated special teams players added to the gameday roster.
Quit gambling out these huge contracts to players that rarely see 16 games a season anyways.
The bottom line is this. The nfl owners are the boss and should make the shots. If you don't like it, go pursue another line of work.
If I were a welder and the pay was terrible, that's not my boss's fault. It's mine for not becoming a doctor instead.

Great point! To me, this sounds like an ulterior motive. IMO I think they're trying to make it "safer" where they can statistically prove fewer injuries prior to the leveraging to go to 18.
