Mock Draft 8/4/11
Here is my latest mock draft thinking
19. T Anthony Castonzo, Boston College
A quality OT who can play either side
52. OL Danny Watkins, Baylor
A quality versatile lineman who is ready to contribute early. I think he could make the switch to center being groomed behind O'Hara or Seubert (Remember O'Hara, Seubert and Koets were not college centers either).
Either way a stud talent is hard to pass up
69. LB Quan Sturdivant, North Carolina[u]
A good playmaker at outside linebacker that we badly need.
83. DT Terrell McClain, South Florida
With Cofield's uncertainty, we need to upgrade the trenches. Even if Cofield's back we can upgrade over Bernard.
117. LB Mark Herzlich, Boston College
I don't think he is completely back to his old self, but Hezlich could
be a steal here.
185. S Deunta Williams, North Carolina
An upgrade to our safety depth
198*. C Tim Barnes, Missouri
A quality developmental center, Barnes gives extra insurance and depth.
202*. CB Cortez Allen, Citadel
An upgrade to our corner depth
222. DE Karl Klug, Iowa
With Kiwanuka likely gone, Klug will compete with Tollefson for the 4th DE spot

Re: Mock Draft 8/4/11
This would give us a potential roster (heading into free agency) something like:
QB (2) - Eli Manning, Sage Rosenfels/ Jim Sorgi*
RB (3) - Brandon Jacobs, Ahmad Bradshaw*, DJ Ware
FB (1) - Bear Pascoe/ Madison Hedgecock
WR (6) - Hakeem Nicks, Steve Smith*, Mario Manningham, Ramsees Barden, Domenik Hixon*, Devin Thomas/ Victor Cruz/ Duke Calhoun
TE (2) - Kevin Boss*, Travis Beckum
OT (4) - Kareem McKenzie, David Diehl, Will Beatty, Anthony Castonzo
OG (3) - Chris Snee, Danny Watkins***, Mitch Petrus/ Kevin Boothe*
OC (3) - Shaun O'Hara/ Rich Seubert**, Adam Koets, Tim Barnes
DE (5) - Justin Tuck, Osi Umenyiora, Jason Pierre-Paul, Dave Tollefson, Matthias Kiwanuka*/ Karl Klug
DT (4) - Barry Cofield*, Chris Canty, Linval Joseph, Terrell McClain/ Rocky Bernard
SLB (2) - Quan Sturdivant, Keith Bulluck*/ Chase Blackburn
ILB (2) - Jon Goff, Mark Herzlich
WLB (2) - Michael Boley, Phillip Dillard/ Gerris Wilkinson*
CB (5) - Corey Webster, Terrell Thomas, Aaron Ross, Cortez Allen, Bruce Johnson
S (5) - Antrel Rolle, Kenny Phillips, Deon Grant*, Michael Coe, Michael Johnson*/ Chad Jones
K (1) - Lawrence Tynes
P (1) - Jeff Feagles
LS (1) - Zak DeOssie
* denotes off contract
** I expect O'Hara or Seubert to be back)
*** I think Watkins could potentially start at LG (while being groomed as long term center). It would depend on where Diehl plays and whether Castonzo or Beatty are ready to play LT
note: I don't expect Andrews back

Tim Barnes seems to be a good late round option at center.
He is probably my 4th rated option after Poncey, Watkins and Wisniewski.

Re: Mock Draft 8/4/11
I'm not real big on Quan Sturdivant as some are.
Herzlich could be a steal in the later rounds.
Herzlich doesn't have great speed but he has good football instincts that make up for it.
I see you plugged him in there at middle linebacker Pete. That's where I think he'll be best suited as well. His avg. speed would be exposed at the nfl level if he continues at OLB.
Herzlich could be a steal in the later rounds.

Re: Mock Draft 8/4/11
That makes three of us in favor of Herz playing the middle. He reminds me of Brian Urlacher. I think he'll start at strong side but eventually make his way to the middle. With that said Herzlich lasting til the 4th is highly unlikely. I hate to be that guy but he is waaaay to talented to be a 4th round backer.
Edit: At first I thought it was a typo that you had your college middle linebacker move to SLB and your college strong side backer move to the middle.
