Pizan's Big Blue Draft 2011 Empty Pizan's Big Blue Draft 2011

Post  Pizan Thu Apr 28, 2011 8:14 pm

Last minute and a bit rushed but better than never.

RESIGN:

Steve Smith
Deon Grant
Kevin Boss
Dave Tollefson

Notes: I think Cofield, Kiwi, and Bradshaw get better contracts elsewhere. The rest aren't worth resigning.

Free Agents:

Tommie Harris DT
Matt Roth DE
Thomas Howard SLB
Ernie Sims WLB

Notes: Harris fills an immediate need at DT 3-tech. Roth a cheaper option to Kiwi. Howard and Sims both had promising starts and quick falls. They give Boley and Sintim good competition.

DRAFT:

1-19. Mike Pouncey C/G Florida

Our first 3 choices seem to be Pouncey, Ingram, Costanzo. I think there is a good chance all three are gone before we pick here. If thats the case, Gabe Carimi, Brandon Harris, Mikel LeShoure, Corey Liuget, Muhammad Wilkerson all become possible picks.

2-52. Bruce Carter LB North Carolina
Drake Nevis DT Louisiana State

I'm really high on these two players and I can't choose which I like better so i'll be happy with either. lol. They have Giant like character and intangibles. In a few years I think they'll be listed as some of the best of this class.

3-83. Taiwan Jones RB Eastern Washington

I think he has potential to be better than Jamaal Charles but not quite as good as Chris Johnson. I think he is an excellent pick here to pair up with Jacobs. If he isn't on the board DeMarco Murray would be the pick.

4-117. Greg McElroy QB Alabama

Mark Herzlich LB Boston College would be the choice if he's still here but thats not likely IMO. I like McElroy better than a lot of the top rated QB prospects. I love his quick release, smarts, and intangibles. Reminds me of Matt Flynn who I was very high on. Still am.

6-185. Jonas Mouton LB Michigan

Can play either OLB position and contribute on Specials.

6-198. Richard Sherman CB Stanford

Trys hard and raw. I like his potential.

6-202. Owen Marecic FB Stanford

He'll immediately help on specials and start at FB.

7-221. Keith Darbut DE/LB Baldwin-Wallace

Another specials/developmental player.

I like your free agents buddy (Howard, Simms, and Ross). And your draft looks good.
Not crazy about Tollefson though. Never have been but he's good for a few plays here and there.

Just seen Dallas took Tyron Smith, happy about that.

Pizan's Big Blue Draft 2011 Empty Re: Pizan's Big Blue Draft 2011

Getting Howard would be great, but I don't want to see Bradshaw leave. Sure he's got to fix his ball control, but he runs harder than anyone the Giants have had recently. I like Tollefson too, he's a worker and plays real hard. Boss is an obvious yes. Who's gonna fill Cofield's spot, I think I'd keep Cofield over signing Harris.
