Why did Scott fall so far down the draft board(7th rd)?

From what I see, he appears to be a decent running back that can do a little bit of everything.
A productive running back with 4 years experience. He averaged 5 yds or more each of those years.

He reminds me a bit of Tiki Barber's early years but with more accelerating speed.

I really liked the Dave Meggett comparison. If we can get that outta him that was a steal that late.

That is a good comparison

Ironically the emergence of Davin Meggett's son Davin Meggett as a RB at Maryland is a major reason for Scott's reduced touches as they split time.

from wiki

After Da'Rel Scott received a nagging shoulder injury in the 2008 California game, Meggett was given a greater opportunity to play. Alongside leading rusher Da'Rel Scott, Davin Meggett helped Maryland to come the closest it ever has to having both a 1,000- and 500-yard rusher in the same season. Meggett fell just 43 yards shy of the 500-yard mark

In 2009, Meggett entered preseason camp behind both Scott and Morgan Green, but his camp performance was impressive enough to garner a share of the number-one position alongside Scott.

Meggett and Scott again split time as the number-one back during the 2010 season. Head coach Friedgen said, "At this point in time, I would say Scott and Meggett are 1A and 1B."

Thought this was interesting at Maryland's pro day. That is Mike Pope (Giants TE coach) running the drills.
