Giants sign White, Clouser and Hopkns
from inside football.com
Following practice Saturday, the Giants announced five new signings.
Two were expected and already previously reported — C David Baas and
Steve Weatherford — but the other three were G/C Chris White, G Brant
Clouser and TE Christian Hopkins.
White, most recently of the Seattle Seahawks, was in an attendance
for Saturday night’s practice but did not participate. Listed at
6-foot-2, 295 pounds, White appeared in six games for the Seahawks last
year, but did not start any. Prior to that, he appeared in 12 and
started eight for the Houston Texans in 2009. White went undrafted in
2005 and was later signed by the Green Bay Packers, where he spent two
seasons.
Clouser, listed at 6-foot-2, 305 pounds, was a four-year starter at
Virginia who finished his senior season last fall as a first-team
All-American and Colonial Athletic Association first-team selection.
Hopkins is 6-foot-5, 255 pounds and played the last two seasons with the Omaha Nighthawks of the United Football League.
Baas is already pegged to begin training camp at center, while
Weatherford was brought into challenge P Matt Dodge for his job. Like
all other signed free agents, the five players will not be able to
practice until Aug. 4.
