53 man roster predictions Empty 53 man roster predictions

Roster redictions from inside football.com

Quarterbacks (2)
Who Stays: Eli Manning, David Carr
Who Goes: Sage Rosenfels, Ryan Perrilloux

Changes: None.

Running Backs (5)
Who Stays: RB Ahmad Bradshaw, RB Brandon Jacobs, RB André Brown, Da’Rel Scott, Henry Hynoski (FB)
Who Goes: RB DJ Ware, RB Charles Scott

Changes – Da’Rel Scott stays.

I’ve added Scott to the stay list for two reasons. One, he has a world of potential and there’s no way that they can hope to slip him onto the practice squad.. Two, I no longer think the Giants are going to carry two kickers.

Tight Ends (3)
Who Stays: Jake Ballard, Travis Beckum, Bear Pascoe
Who Goes: Daniel Coats, Christian Hopkins

Changes – Ballard Stays.

With an extra roster spot to work with, I brought Ballard back to my “staying” list as of the tight ends, he’s actually looked the best overall. And yes, I do think Pascoe survives the cut if for not other reason than because of his versatility.

Receivers (6)
Who Stays: Hakeem Nicks, Mario Manningham, Domenik Hixon, Jerrel Jernigan, Devin Thomas, Victor Cruz.
Who Goes: Darius Reynaud, Michael Clayton, Ramses Barden (PUP)

Changes – Barden Goes (PUP).

Since the Giants made a decision to put Barden on the PUP list to start the season, that opens up a roster spot at another position so I reduced the number of receivers from 7 to 6.

Offensive Line (9)
Who Stays: David Diehl, Will Beatty, David Baas, Chris Snee, Kareem McKenzie, Mitch Petrus, Kevin Boothe, James Brewer, Stacy Andrews
Who Goes: Chris White, Jarriel King, Brant Clouser, Ikechuku Ndukwe, Jamon Meredith, Jim Cordle, Adam Koets (PUP), Jamon Meredith

Changes – Stacy Andrews stays, Jamon Meredith goes.

Tough call here, but Andrews picked up his game in the second half of the preseason while Meredith seemed to regress a bit.

Defensive Line (7)
Who Stays: Justin Tuck, Osi Umenyiora, Dave Tollefson, Jason Pierre-Paul, Linval Joseph, Chris Canty, Jimmy Kennedy
Who Goes: Gabe Watson, Craig Marshall, Justin Trattou, Alex Hall, Ayanga Okpokowuruk, Rocky Bernard, Alex Hall

Changes: None

Linebackers (8 )
Who Stays: Michael Boley, Jonathan Goff, Mathias Kiwanuka, Greg Jones, Jacquian Williams, Spencer Paysinger, Mark Herzlich, Adrian Tracy
Who Goes: Phillip Dillard, Clint Sintim (IR)

Changes – Sintim to IR, Tracy stays.

It’s tragic that Clint Sintim has to go through another year of surgery and rehab on the same knee he injured last season. His departure from the 53-man roster, though, likely opens up a spot for Adrian Tracy, who revealed this week that he’s been spending time with the defensive line meeting room as he looks to return to his college roots as a DE/OLB who perhaps can backup Mathias Kiwanuka.

Defensive Backs (10)
Who Stays: Corey Webster, Aaron Ross, Prince Amukamara, Brian Williams, Michael Coe, Joe Burnett, Antrel Rolle, Kenny Phillips, Deon Grant, Tyler Sash
Who Goes: Brian Jackson (IR/Back), Derrick Martin, Jarrad Tarrant

Changes: None

Specialists (3)

Who Stays: Zak DeOssie (LS), Matt Dodge (P), Lawrence Tynes (K)
Who Goes: Steve Weatherford (P), Rhys Lloyd (K)

Changes – Lloyd moves from staying to going.

There was never any doubt that Tynes would retain his job. The only question was whether he’d be ready for opening day. He appears to be headed on the right track, so there is no reason to have to keep Lloyd around, which means a roster spot opened at another position.

53 man roster predictions Empty Re: 53 man roster predictions

That is pretty much along the lines of what I expect.

I do think 8 LBs might be a few to many, and 3 DTs might be a one too few; I wouldn't be surprised if we kept Bernard over Tracy

I'm not sure Brown has beaten out Ware yet, but that's very possible.

I think we will add a TE from other teams cuts this weekend, maybe even a trade using a player like Rosenfels.

My practice squad predicitons

QB: Ryan Perriloux
RB: Charles Scott
TE: Jake Ballard
OL: Jim Cordle, Jariel King
DL: Justin Trattou
LB: Adrian Tracy
DB: Jarrad Tarrant
