I've been doing this for the last 10 years or so on various boards, no need to stop now. We don't have much cap room this year so getting the best bang for our buck is gonna be key.

Resign:

Terrell Thomas CBResigned
Devin Thomas WR/ST
David Carr QBResigned

Overview: All 3 should come back relatively cheap.

Free Agents:

Martellus Bennett TE 25 -- Young all around TE looking for an opportunity to get out of Wittens shadow. I think he could really break out with us. Signed

Eddie Royal WR/ST 25 -- Giants were high on him coming out of V-Tech. With a need at PR/KR and also an experienced receiver is needed to compete with Barden, JJ, Hixon and Thomas for the opening at 3rd WR.

Geoff Schwartz OL 25 -- Coming off of injury but was solid before and could play either G position or RT. Thats the versatility we like. Signed with Vikings

Trevor Laws DT 26 -- Didn't fit the wide-9 system they had in Philly. I was high on him coming out of Notre Dame and we are thin at the position outside of Canty, Joseph, and an unproven Austin. Time to replace Benard.

Other players considered: Anthony Collins OT; Peyton Hillis RB/FB; Mike Tolbert RB/FB; Kevin Boss TE, Dan Connor LB; Curtis Lofton LB; Steve Smith WR

Overview: I'd love for the Giants to make a move on Lofton/Connor and Hillis/Tolbert but I just can't see us working that under the cap. Connor is a possibility though if we rework some more contracts. These FA's all fit the plan Low Risk/High Reward signings that fill needs.

Trades: Osi. He's in the last year of his contract so it would be nice to get at least something for him. At this point a 4th and a conditional pick would work out just fine. This trade would also allow us to move Kiwi back to DE and not lose any depth. While also allowing us to free up some cap dollars.

Draft:

1. Lamar Miller RB Miami - skilled home run hitter
2. Mychal Kendricks ILB Cal - Sideline to sideline speed
3. Ronnell Lewis OLB Oklahoma - BIG TIME HITTER
4. Josh Norman CB Coastal Carolina - Smooth Hips for a tall corner
4. Brandon Taylor S LSU - Good Leader
5. Olivier Vernon DE Miami - Excellent Burst
6. Desmond Wynn OG Rutgers
7. Quenton Washinton CB South Florida

A Lot of Defense but thats where we need the most help.

Final 53

QB: Manning, Carr
RB: Bradshaw, Miller, Scott, Ware
WR: Nicks, Cruz, Barden, Royal, JJ, Thomas, Hixon
FB: Hynoski
TE: Bennett, Bear, Ballard
OL: Beatty, Diehl, Baas, Snee, Boothe, Schwartz, Petrus, Brewer, Wynn

DE: Tuck, JPP, Kiwi, Vernon
DT: Canty, Joseph, Austin, Laws
LB: Boley, Kendricks, Herzlich, Williams, Sintim, Lewis
CB: Webster, Thomas, Prince, Norman, Washington, Coe
S: Rolle, Phillips, Sash, Taylor

K: Tynes
P: Weatherford
LS: DeOssie

Good thoughts Vin.

Eddie Royal would be interesting especially if Hixon didn't work out for us health wise.

As you might know by now, T Thomas just re-signed with us.

Carr is a must and I like Devin Thomas too as a specials contributor who also knows the system in a pinch.

I'm not so high on Bennett but maybe that's just my anti-cowboys biased talking.

Not a fan of Osi being traded. Let him play the year out and re-sign Kiwi next season to possibly fill the void at DE.
Jaquain Williams takes over Kiwis spot at LB and Herzlich/Jones in the middle. Or something along those lines.

Signing Boss makes alot of sense to the Giants right now. He will be cheap and hopefully can make it through 6 games or more until Ballard comes off IR.

I hear alot of good things about Tolbert but never really seen him play enough. He sounds interesting though.
Let Jacobs test the waters then bring him back on the cheap is a possible option as well.

I feel like Boss already dissed us once and he's still viewed as an already established starter. I think he'll cost more than Bennett. I also feel like we have seen all what Boss has to offer. There isn't much upside there.

I'm really happy we brought Thomas back. When healthy Thomas is our best secondary player.

I see your point with Osi I just think avoiding that situation next year with Osi and Kiwi both becoming Fa's would be a good idea. Getting a future investment from Osi would be nice.

And I honestly think Williams is poised to be Boley's replacement. Herz has a spot somewhere, Jones not so much.

I like Tolbert, not sure he'll be cheap enough though. Not many big backs can catch like he does.
