Saints and Parcells - What do you think?
So the Saints seem like they are practically begging Parcels to coach for a year. Some people are upset that this violated the Rooney Rule on interviewing minority candidates. Its clear to me that the Saints want to avoid any long-term problems, so they want to bring in a one-year coach and taking Parcells out of retirement seems logical. Anyone have any thoughts on these things?

Re: Saints and Parcells - What do you think?
I think it probably will happen.
But I do think the Saints would be better with one of the experienced coached on the sideline such as Billick, Gruden, Edwards, Dungy or Cowher.
I guess considering the defense staff issues, they my want a defensive minded coach. But if you really want to resolve the culture issues, particularly on defense, then I would do whatever I could to get Tony Dungy for a year.
They already have a good defensive coordinator with Spagnuolo, so I guess it is all about what they need.

Good Points Pete. Dungy would also boost the PR value of the saints since he is pretty universally considered a high morals guy. I doubt he would do it, but maybe. I think you are right that Parcells will do it.
If he does, do you know if this would preclude the HOF for another 5 years?

If I were the Saints, I would find another coach over their from their own sidelines. It just seems more logical to hire an interim that is familiar with their own playcalling.
thanks for joining Mike.

Parcells did work with Payton in Dallas, guess that us the reason, also he is no threat to Paytons job.
Looks like they are running foul of the Rooney rule though.
If they are serious about cleaning up the culture of the Saints, it should be Dungy.
But I suspect the cultural issues are very deep rooted at the Saints and Parcells will be largely window dressing. The coordinators will have the most say with what goes on in game
