What Happened To Running The Ball Empty What Happened To Running The Ball

What are the Gmen thinking !? Ive been a giants fan my whole life ... Ive suffered through the pain of the 90s and basked in in the unexpected glory of our last two Superbowls. My question is this. Who's gonna be running the ball the when Bradshaws out for his ussual 3-4 games. Jaccobs is gone and quite frankly I'm happy about it. Someone answered my prayers. After magically losing the ability to run north and south and punishing would be tacklers. He attempted to change his style to juke and jive like Tikki in the good old days. Not to mention his unsportsmalike penalties at crucial times. Good riddens! But with Jaccobs being gone and Bradshaws injury ptoblems We have huge problems! And for some reason Jerry Reese is doing nothing about it. No free agents signed though people were available Micheal Bush would have been a good addition and run like the old Jaccobs we all loved. The clocks ticking and I cant sleep cause we're not gonna be able to run Bradshaw cant carry the load and Ware isnt even a good second RB But will have to be our starter for the 3-4 games Bradshaws out WHAT ARE WE GONNA DO?

Since we have a top 5 passing game and did it with the worst running game in recent memory, I think we are fine. JR can;t go after a free agent with no cap room, so we will draft a RB with one of our 5 picks in the top 140. We will get someone who can help in the rotation.

You mke a good point Bacchus and I somewhat agree.
Ware is not an answer. We have all seen enough to know he is just average at best. Now that the top tier runningbacks are gone, the draft is not a viable answer in week 1 if Bradshaw goes down.
Can the Giants get by with average running and still get somewhere? Yes, that was proven last season.
Can the Giants get by with average LB's and still get somewhere? Yes, that was proven last season.
Should the Giants sit back and hope it happens again? Probably not.

That's a really good point Todd. Yea we made it last year but we shouldn't try that again. Lucky for us RB is an easy position for rookies to make a transition from college to pro. I might be interested in ced benson for a year on vet min too.

Thats a good point. If we can pick up a decent vet for a minimum contract or close to it, we probably will. JR knows his cap room and will wait for the market to be set after the draft before throwing any big money around. Plus, if we can get a decent draft pick, the giants have never been shy about bringing a rookie RB into the rotation for carries. With Bradshaw and Ware, they want to pick up another guy who can handle 100 carries on the season. That should not be too hard to find in the post draft FA market or in the draft itself. They will be fine. This team is simply not a running team.

What Happened To Running The Ball Empty Re: What Happened To Running The Ball

I think there are two reasons our running game has suffered.

Firstly our Oline was in transition last year, which hurts our consistency.

Secondly is the talent at RB.

Like it or not, RB has not been a priorty in the draft or in free agency.

We don't need a dominant Oline, just a good one. Remember when we had Tiki, he was able to make plays despite ordinary Oline play. That isn't an isolated case, Matt Forte for example makes plays despite an atrocius Bears line.
