I really like this pick. But I am honestly surprised, we haven't taken a RB early since 2000 with Ron Dayne.
Considering how the draft unfolded, I was expecting Steven Hill or Cordy Glenn

I wonder if we could trade up to get WR Steven Hill?

"This is a football player. And if you go to New York to play for Tom Coughlin, you better be nothing less. Great pick by the Giants." -- Mike Mayock
“There are certain players that you evaluate as you go through the process that despite differences of what you think of his speed or toughness, you come away saying, ‘This guy is a good football player,’ ” said Marc Ross, the Giants’ director of college scouting. “There’s only a handful of those guys in the draft every year, and this was one of those players.”

Obviously I'm excited about this pick. I had us taking him in the 2nd but honestly that was probably wishful thinking on my part. 3 players I wanted going into this draft Donta Hightower, David Wilson, and Ronnel Lewis. We got one of them, I can live with that.
Wilson brings another threat to our offense. He can score anytime he has the ball. He'll surely help our running game out that was ranked dead last.

Also stoked about the pick.
Out of most mocks I've seen, Wilson was predicted to go before the 64th pick so it wasn't likely that the Giants could wait that long for him to still be there.

The way it sounds we tried trading back but we were waiting for the "mother-load". David Wilson is going to be an instant fan favorite.

Wilson has been mocked to NYG a bit at 32, I just think people had trouble fitting all the players they like into the first round so dropped RBs (they do tend to drop).
A lot of people have Wilson as the 2nd best back behind Richardson.
David Wilson actually reminds me a lot of Tiki Barber with his very similar size, deceptive strength/power, break away speed, home run threat, good hands, return kicks etc.
You know our coaching staff how to effectvely use that style of RB.
