Just thought I'd share this info from the jets website.

Herrmann arrives at the Jets following 20 seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Michigan, where he served the past nine seasons as the Wolverines' defensive coordinator. He began his coaching career at Michigan in 1986 as a graduate assistant before working as a volunteer coach from 1988-89, then being tabbed as inside linebackers coach (1990-94) and special teams and linebackers coach (1995-96) before being promoted to defensive coordinator prior to the Outback Bowl on Dec. 17, 1996. In 1997 en route to the national title, Herrmann was named the winner of the Broyles Award, given to the top national assistant coach of the year on the collegiate level. The native of Dearborn Heights, MI, went on to star as a linebacker at Michigan under legendary head coach Bo Schembechler before beginning his coaching career on the prep level in Michigan for two years prior to coaching at his alma mater.

It is more interesting that at Michigan Herrmann was Sheridans defensive coordinator and now it is reversed.

what I like is that these two know each other well, so will certainly help Sheridan flavour the defense his preferred way.

I am keen to see what changes he brings to the LBs
