Rosenhaus cryptic about 80, 17

Categories: Minicamp

Drew Rosenhaus was in Arizona on Tuesday, Chicago on Wednesday, Cincinnati yesterday and East Rutherford today. (Look out New England! Here he comes!)

After chatting with Plaxico Burress in his car and Sinorice Moss outside of his ride, Rosenhaus took a few minutes to chat with a few reporters.

"I'm just here to visit with my clients as they wrap up minicamp, to see the guys," Rosenhaus said. "That was my purpose for being here."

Not likely.

Here's the rest of Drew's brief session with the media.

(By Burress standing on the sideline, are you trying to antagonize the Giants?)
We're not trying to antagonize the Giants. I think everyone knows Plax has been battling an ankle injury. He didn't practice most of last year because of the ankle and it was just a carryover. The bottom line is I'm very confident Plax will be healthy and ready to go for the start of the season.

(He said he was healthy enough to practice but that he wasn't participating because of his contract situation.)
I'm going to steer away from that. I think the focus should be we are in discussions with the team, Plaxico was here. I think we're headed in the right direction. I'd rather not get into anything that might be negative.

(Are you confident Jeremy will be able to smooth things over and stay here?)
A lot of people ask me about Jeremy. In his comments last week, he said he takes a great deal of pride in the fact that everything pertaining to him he's kept between himself and the Giants, so really I have to follow his lead. He's my client and I respect his position, so all of the discussions we have with the Giants I'm going to keep him that way.

(People don't realize what a sensitive guy he can be. Is it beyond the point where his feelings can be mended?)
It's an issue that we're working on, that we're talking to the team with. We're just going to have to take it one day at a time.

(Do you think Shockey wants to remain with the Giants?)
I don't specifically have a way to address that at this time because Jeremy's been very adamant about avoiding any public discussion about a situation. The best thing I can say about Jeremy's situation is that we are talking to the team about some of the issues that exist and we hope to get that resolved.

(Do you want everything resolved before training camp?)
You always do. As an agent and a player, you always hope to get things resolved as soon as possible. This minicamp, there was a lot of attention we hope will not be there when training camp rolls around.

(So in your mind Shockey and Burress will have things in tow before training camp with no acrimony?)
I hope we've got nothing to talk about, but let me just say either way I hope we've got nothing to talk about as it relates to my clients on this team - that Kenny Phillips is signed before camp and that Jeremy's situation is resolved, whatever that may be and obviously Plaxico having a new contract.

(Do you think Plax will be fined for not participating in practice this week?)
I hope not. The bottom line is he shouldn't be. He does have an ankle (injury) and he's been in treatment all minicamp. I think he's gone about things professionally and he's been in communication with his coaches and he's here. We want to dwell on the positives.

(How long are you in town?)
Just today. Thank you.

And with that, he was gone - like Batman into the shadows. And he said if we need him again, all we have to do is shine the Rosenhaus Sports logo into the sky.

a quote from Plax on Wednesday

“Me and my agent are trying to get this deal done for the future so I can remain a New York Giant, and we’re just not happy with the way things are going right now. That’s basically the main reason why I’m not out there. … I personally don’t like the way that it’s going,” he told the media on Wednesday.

It is quite obvious that Rosenhaus is more than a little involved here; anyone think him showing up at the stadium "to talk to his clients" was a co-incidence?

No, but its not necessarily a bad thing he was there. For all we know, they made some progress.

That is possible, but I get the feeling that Rosenhaus has been manipulating the enitre situation and probably is the main instigator in both situations.

I also think he is spinning the situation to make his clients come accross in a better light than they would (or should) otherwise
