My Mock draft 12th March
I have had something of a major rethink over the last few days regarding the Giants approach to the draft
Assuming the Giants get 3rd and 5th round compensation draft picks, here is my thoughts
Giants Mock draft (12th March)
29: TE Brandon Pettigrew, Oklahoma State (6'5 3/8", 263lbs, 4.85, 22reps)
An exceptional physical TE who is a very good reciever and outstanding blocker; the only concern is breakaway speed. This guy is the real deal and give Eli another genuine weapon.
45: OT Jamon Meredith, South Carolina (6'4 5/8", 304lbs, 5.04, 31reps)
Meredith is a future left tackle with good size, strength and athleticism; could also play on the right.
60: OC Eric Wood, Louisville (6'3 7/8", 310lbs, 5.23, 30reps)
A very under rated center who will be groomed at O'Hara's replacment; can also play OG.
91: WR Ramsees Barden, Cal Poly (6'6, 229lbs, 4.61, 17reps)
A very productive small school, physical WR with an outstanding size, speed, strength, athleticism and decent speed (I am expecting a faster pro day). He adds a massive target and redzone weapon and can get downfield (20.4 yds/rec in college); He complements our current WRs well.
3rd Comp: S Chip Vaughn, Wake Forest (6'1 3/8", 221lbs, 4.51, 21reps)
A big, fast, tackling machine. Vaughn adds much needed depth and will compete for playing time and be a major boost on special teams
125: MLB Scott McKillop, Pittsburgh (6' 0 7/8", 244lbs, 4.77, 27reps)
A great tackler inside with excellent instincts, work ethic and intangibles; will likely be groomed at Pierce's replacement.
143: WR Jarett Dillard, Rice (5'10 1/4", 191lbs, 4.53, 13reps)
A talented, very productive small school reciever. He will have to compete for a roster spot but has alot of potential and genuine talent
156: CB Morgan Trent, Michigan (6'0 5/8", 193lbs, 4.54, 23reps)
A solid CB with alot of experience in a big program; adds depth and special teams play.
5th Comp: S Courtney Greene, Rutgers (6'0 1/4", 212lbs, 4.54, 21reps)
A big hitting safety that can play either safety spot; will also be a major boost on special teams.
This pick is assumes we wish to continue going with a DB ratio of 5 CBs and 5 S
187: OG Travis Bright, BYU (6' 4 1/4", 316lbs, 5.24, 34reps)
A strong experienced OG with top intangibles to compete for the backup OG spot
221: RB Javarris Williams, Tennessee State (5' 9 1/2", 219lbs, 4.52, 25reps)
An under rated RB who would be a good addition to the RB depth
Note: I have used the overall rankings from Draftcountdown and The Huddle Report for the approximation of players available at each pick
I think there may be a run on WRs in the draft and Pettigrew has onlu a couple of landing spots in the draft.
