Having looked at the possible needs from here; without major roster changes, this is something like what I would like to see for the Giants in the draft
(I have assumed a 4th round comp pick)

I think the Giants are generally very happy with their depth at most positions



29 OT Eben Britton, Arizona [6-6, 309lbs, 5.16]
Britton is a dominant run blocker and raw pass blocker (but with all the tools), he is a very good fit for the Giants with their dominant running game and play action vertical passing offense and will be a significant upgrade over Diehl in both run blocking and pass protection. This likely pushes Diehl to LG and Seubert into the primary backup role (where he excells).


45 CB Sean Smith [6-3 1/2, 214lbs, 4.53]
Smith is a physical, ballhawk CB with a rare blend of size, and athleticism with decent speed. He is available due the depth of talent at CB. Smith will compete with Thomas for playing time in the Giants nickel and dime packages and will compete with Ross for playing time opposite Webster. Smith adds depth and quality and a much needed ballhawk to our secondary.


60 WR Brian Robiskie, Ohio St [6-2 7/8, 209lbs, 4.51]
Robiske is a big, fast WR with good hands and excellent bloodlines. With the large numbers of WRs already drafted and a very deep class, he will still be available; without and major aquisitions he will be in the mix for the #2 WR spot opposite Hixon


82 S Patrick Chung, Oregon [5-11 1/4, 212lbs, 4.54]
Chung is a smart, hard hitting enforcer with good speed and solid coverage skills. He is available because of the depth and talent in the safety crop and not being the ballhawk safety currently in vogue in the NFL. Chung will compete with Johnson and Brown for the starting SS spot.

133 WR Brandon Gibson, Washington St [6-0 3/8, 210lbs, 4.55]
Gibson is an under rated and very productive, physical WR with excellent jands. Gibson adds another physical WR to compete for a roster spot but adds a genuine target over the middle and red zone weapon


152 S Courtney Greene, Rutgers, [6-0 1/4, 212lbs, 4.54]
Green is a physical safety with good speed, decent coverage and can play either safety. Greene adds safety depth (Johnson and Brown are of contract after 2009) and quality special teams.


165 WLB Nic Harris, Oklahoma [6-2 3/8, 233lbs, 4.78]
Harris is a former physical "in the box" College saftey who plays very well down-hill. He will need to transition to WLB in the pros, but has good physical tools and great intangibles. Harris will likely develop behind Boley at WLB whilst adding considerable special teams value; this continues the infusion of speed, athleticism and coverage skills which the Giants LBs have lacked in recent years.


200 CB Joe Burnett, Central Florida [5-9 3/8, 192lbs, 4.57]
Burnett is a physical, small school CB with very good ball skills and solid speed. Burnett is a very experienced returning kicks and punts. Burnett gives the Giants more CB depth but more importantly a quality return man; his value will be on special teams.


239 RB Jorvorskie Lane, Texas A&M [6-0, 285lbs, 4.75]
Lane is a big, powerfull, athletic FB with good feet and solid hands. Lane will need to work hard (lose weight and add muscle), but he could be a solid Bettis style of RB. Lane will have to compete for a roster spot but could be the 4th RB.

I have put a fair amount of thought here and believe that this addresses alot of the key needs and puts the Giants in a very strong position going forward.


I am assuming the Giants will continue to let their talented younsgeters develop (why I gave Henderson a roster spot)

In particular the enhanced secondary will pay huge dividends, particularly with the addition of ball hawks and more depth and talent. This will also help our pass rush.
Legitimate competition behind Ross at CB will certainly help our secondary; the Nickle and Dime packages in particular will be formidable.

WR is solid with our current youngsters and a couple of big physical targets.

The Oline is greatly enhanced by moving Diehl to LG and Seubert to primary backup. It also keeps the core of guys together which is very important for Oline.

With this roster, you could see alot of rotation in the LB corps and secondary in addition to the Dline; this adds a ton of flexibility and will disguise alot of our schemes in addition to ensuring our players remain fresh.


Perhaps the biggest enhancement will be the special teams; both returnin kicks and certainly kick coverage units.
