Here's an updated list of who I think the Giants could target in this years draft.

Ultimately, I think that the Giants are likely to make trades at some point which will change this drafting order.

Rd 1 (29)
Darrius Heyward-Bey, WR- Maryland, 6-2 210
The Giants need a playmaker and someone with enough speed to stretch the field vertically. Especially if Plax is no longer part of this team.
With Heyward-Bey, the Giants get a 4.30 guy with a 38"vert. A few scouts consider him a bit of a project to become "nfl ready" but he may be the most gifted wr with the highest ceiling in this years draft.

Rd 2 (45)
Jared Cook, TE- South Carolina, 6-5 246
I've got Cook going to the Giants more as a receiving TE. Traditionally the Giants look for more of the blocking type but I feel that Boss has improved greatly in that role which now makes Michael Mathews expendable. With Jared Cook, it should improve the Giants redzone offense when lining up in a two TE set

Rd 2 (60)
Phil Loadholt, OT- Oklahoma, 6-8 332
Loadholt is a mountain of a man at 6'8" 332. The Giants should look to improve for the future. Some scouts say that Loadholt may not have the foot speed to play LT and I'm fine with that. Could he be an improvement over Rich Seubert at LG or a future RT? If he becomes either one of these two things then I'm happy with this potential pick.

Shonn Greene, RB- Iowa, 5-11 227
Behind Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw there are no locks to make this team. Greene would be a project but he's also a beast that can wear down a defense. Can Bradshaw and Danny Ware provide that dimension if Jacobs happens to miss any time due to injury?

Zack Follett, OLB- California, 6-2 236
Follett is a play maker and has the the numbers to back it up. He may be limited to the weak side due to size but he does know how to get after the play, hit hard and wrap up. He's known to be a film room junkie which coaches will love and should have plenty of special teams potential.

Rd 4 (125)
Chip Vaughn, SS- Wake Forest, 6-1 221
Very little depth at safety this year for the Giants. They've only signed CC Brown from the Texans for one year so he may not even be around a year from now. That leaves the Giants with the same problem next season so drafting a safety is a must.
Vaughn is projected to be a better "in the box" safety type who plays physical and should help against the run.

Jason Phillips, MLB- Texas Christian, 6-1 239
A smart and tough linebacker who could provide competition with Jonathan Goff for a back-up mlb spot. Phillips had a decent combine. Better than intended going in. He was also a long-snapper in high school which never hurts ones chances.

Rd 5 (156)
Glover Quin, CB- New Mexico, 5-11 204
Good size and a physical player who may even project into a FS in the nfl. The Giants seem to be fairly content at the cornerback position but depth never hurts. Quin would likely find most of his early playing time on specials teams.

Rd 6 (187)
Patrick Turner, WR- USC, 6-5 223
Turner was somewhat of an underachiever in his early years at USC but finally broke out in his senior season recording 49 receptions for 741 and 10 TDs. He won't have the quickness as some of the wr's taken ahead of him in this years class but at 6-5 223 he could provide a nice redzone target for Eli.

Rd 7 (221)
Robby Felix, C- UTEP, 6-3 302
Good measurables, plays hard, and plenty of experience. The Giants are fine with Shaun O'Hara at center for now but Felix could give the Giants someone to groom for the future.

Personally I really like Heyward Bey; I am not sure he will be there #29, but if he is then he is the guy. Tghen again WR has slipped in recent years and with teh depth of quality talent this year, I wouldn't be surprised if alot of teams decided to get a WR in later rounds

I do think the Giants will look at bringing in a centre to develop behind O'Hara


These lists do change alot; particularly as things chance. I am looking forward to see how yours develop

I like your mock draft, you are thinking along different lines to me, but that is never a bad thing

I have been toying with the idea of Vaughn in the 4th round.

I am going to do a new version of my 5 round monster mock soon, that may give me a better idea of where players may go

The Giants will almost certainly have trades that will impact the draft; either for a WR such as Braylon Edwards or Anquan Boldin or trading up to target specific players in the draft
