Here is an email I sent to The Huddlereport's Drew Boylhart, maybe some people will find it interesting

Pete,
The Giants have a very tough potential trade. You know the Cards want a pass rusher and Mathias might be the one but if that is the case then the Giants should be able to keep the first round pick. I don't think the Cards are that interested in the 25th pick of this draft. That's the problem and the hang up I think.... The first round pick is not want the Cards want. It's not their goal in this trade.

They want a pass rusher now. They don't want to wait for a player from the draft to maybe develop into a pass rusher.

The trade with the Browns (IMO)... the Giants should not do. They can get a WR in the Draft equal to Edwards. He has shown nothing special at this point. That's why the Browns want to trade. They dump a salary and pick up a draft pick they CAN develop.

Big difference in the trading goals for each team.
Cards don't want development, Browns need players to develop.

Now if your running the team with this information (if I'm right) what would you do? Trade Mathias and maybe some picks or go for Edwards or not trade?

I would give an offer to the Cards and back off the table. The offer would not include one of my pass rushers. It would just be a combination of draft picks that includes the 29th pick. Something like the Bills just got. Take it or leave it.

The Browns I would offer a third round pick and that is all and then back off the table.

Both the Cards and Browns are the one's that need to trade not the Giants. But that's just me.

I have to disagree with!!.....there is No WR in this draft that will be as effective as Edwards would be this year..There is a reason why WR's take 2 years if thay are very good three years if they are just good. The Giants play in the toughest division and have a tough schedule of strong defenses and it takes real experience and strength to make a difference as a WR. Edwards does not have to catch every pass he just needs to be on the field so defenses have too account for him and that will open up the run game also help get the other WR's get open. I think Boldin is not an option and foolish for Arizona to trade him this year, with the Eagles losing pick 28 to the Bills they will probably use pick 21 on a RB and that will losen things up a bit. The Giants have 10 picks and they don't have room for 10 rookies so look for them to use a 2 & 3 on Edwards and package rounds 5,6 and 7 to move up and get another 2 or 3........

I don't think Edwards is a lock to perform either.

A rookie WR can contribute

Don't get me wrong, I like Edwards, but to me it is a choice

1st and 3rd round picks plus $10million a year for Edwards

or two talented WRs in the draft to compete and complement our current stable of WRs (maybe $2.5million for both and cheap for 5-6 years

for me it comes down to value

don't get me wrong, I would love to have Edwards as a Giant, but only on our terms for the right value.

btw I would argue that 10 roster spots for rookies could be found
