New deal for Braylon Edwards in the works? Empty New deal for Braylon Edwards in the works?

Post  Big_Pete Mon Aug 31, 2009 10:43 pm

There has rThere has renewed rumours of a deal for Braylon Edwards. This would be a three way deal involving the Giants, the Browns, and the Broncos with Marshall to Cleveland, Anderson to Denver, and a Giants' WR plus a draft pick for Braylon Edwards.

That trade would make sense.
Denver gets a good QB and gets rid of a headache WR
Cleveland avoids paying Edwards and Anderson, get a 2 talented WR (which they really need) and a draft pick.
The Giants get a #1 receiver to compliment our good young WR base.

I thought we heard the last of the Edwards trade. However, if this is legitimate, then the Giants
front office are clearly are not happy with our current crop of receivers and are unwilling to risk a shot at a playoff run, this is somewhat understandable considering the opportunities our WRs missed in the Jets game.
.
If we include a receiver, it will be Hixon, Smith, or Manningham as the other WRs have little/no trade value. I really like those three guys, but we also have Nicks and Barden.

My guess is that Edwards asking price has dropped, so perhaps it will be a 3RD round draft pick plus Hixon/Smith/Manningham

hmm I am not suprised

if this deal was going to happen, it the thing that would take the longest would be redoing the new deal

once that is done, things would happen quickly
