Re: Giants RFA Tenders
information on the RFA tenders from http://trainathought.insidefootball.com/2010/02/2010-restricted-free-agent-tags.html
2010 Restricted Free Agent Tags
The following are the 2010 free agent tags that teams may tender to players who are scheduled to be restricted free agents, regardless of what happens with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Players must still have a minimum of four years of accrued experience to be eligible for RFA; however, if there is no new CBA in place by the time free agency begins on March 5, players will need six years of accrued service to be eligible for Unrestricted Free Agency.
The major difference, though, as you'll see is that players who have four years of experience will be tendered at one level whereas players with five years of experience will be tendered at another level. None of the levels carry signing bonuses and very rarely do teams offer any incentives or guarantees in minimum tender offers.
Four years of NFL experience
Original pick compensation: $1.176M
Second round tender: $1.759M
First round tender: $2.521M
First and third tender: $3.168M
Five years of NFL experience
Original pick compensation: $1.226M
Second round tender: $1.809M
First round tender: $2.621M
First and third round tender: $3.268M

Re: Giants RFA Tenders
Ok. So why wouldn't the Giants just tender all of their RFA's since they could be rewarded a draft pick if someone else signs them?
It does no harm to the Giants. They could just cut them at a later date and owe them nothing.
Sure it might seem a little unfair to some players but afterall, the nfl is just a business nowadays. The players say it and the owners say it.

Re: Giants RFA Tenders
Domenik Hixon received a second round tender and Kevin Dockery won't be tendered.
I'm not sure why Dockery wasn't tendered.
I know Dock was surpassed by Bruce Johnson last season but I still think Dockery was a much better player.
The coaches must see a higher ceiling for Johnson or something because I think Johnson gets burnt on more big plays and he's definately not as good of a tackler as Dockery is.

Re: Giants RFA Tenders
I guess they don't see Dockery in their long term plans
it is hard to justify playing someone around $1.5 mil when a cheap free agent or draft pick can do the job and have more upside

Re: Giants RFA Tenders
It looks like the Giants have tendered CC Brown, not sure what level
also looks like Moss has 3rd round compensation, not 2nd
Under ordinary circumstances, Moss, a former second round draft pick, would have brought a second round pick as compensation if he signed elsewhere. However, because the team didn’t tender him at a second round level and they tendered three other players not drafted in the second round at the second round level, the giants have to accept the next lowest round as compensation, or in this case, a third round pick.
