The Big Blue Print: 2.5
I'm basing this off of The Big BLUE Print: 2
From that we have a few moves you need to know in order for this to all come together. So in case we have any new readers who since they are too lazy to join are probably to lazy to click the link i'll quick recap.
We trade Osi, Cofield/Ross, Hixon, our 1st (15th) to the Rams for the 1st overall. Draft King Kong Suh.
We trade Seubert and a 6th to the Packers for A.J. Hawk.
Diehl moves to LG. Beatty becomes starting LT.
Since then Two players have been added. Antrel Rolle and Jim Sorgi. So I tweaked accordingly.
Kicker is next priority. Insert Neil Rackers here.
Although I'm content with our current RB's recently released Justin Fargas would make a nice complement/insurance policy to often injured Jacobs and Bradshaw.
I considered a few RFA's. Matt Roth OLB/DE 2nd round comp from the Browns and Matt Spaeth Blocking TE 3rd round comp from Pitt. But in the end I decided against it.
Mock Draft:
1. Ndamukong Suh, DT, Nebraska
2. Chris Cook, CB, Virginia
3. Art Jones, DT, Syracuse
4. George Selvie, DE, South Florida
5. Micah Johnson, LB, Kentucky
7. Zoltan Mesko, P, Michigan
QB- Eli, Sorgi, Bomar
RB- Jacobs, Fargas, Bradshaw, Johnson
FB- Hedgecock
TE- Boss, Beckum, Johnson
WR- Smith, Nicks, Manningham, R.Barden, Hagan, Moss
OT- Beatty, McKenzie, Whimper
OG- Snee, Diehl, Boothe
OC- O'Hara, Koets
DE- Kiwi, Tuck, Tollefson, Selvie
DT- Canty, Suh, Alford, Jones
OLB- Sintim, Boley, Blackburn, Kehl, DeOssie
MLB- A.J. Hawk, Goff, Micah Johnson
CB- Webster, Thomas, Ross, Cook, Johnson
S- Rolle, Phillips, Johnson, Brown
K- Rackers
P- Feagles/Mesko

Re: The Big Blue Print: 2.5
Love it.
Hawk would be a nice fit. He has speed and can tackle well. That's what the Giants need at MLB. Guys that can fly to the ball.
Cofield is the only true nose the Giants have so it would be hard trading him away but if Suh is what everyone says he is, then I say go for it.
I don't know much about Cook but I'd rather not trade away Ross at this point as he should see the field a lot on passing downs.
I actually have Art Jones and Micah Johnson in my own Giants mock that I'm trying to put together. I think they will be steals in rounds 3-4 and 4-5.
Art Jones grew up 15 minutes away from me and I got to seen him play at Cuse a bit. He was apretty good player on a really bad team. Look out for his brother Chandler in a few years. He may turn out even better.

Nice ideas, I am not sure it would happen though
I think the Packers would want more than Seubert and a 6th for Hawk

Thanks for the feedback. I'm glad you liked the art jones pick, td. I really like the fact that he was a standout hs wrestler as well. I like to see that when looking for dts. The have a better understanding of body control, anchoring, getting out of their stance quickly, and using their hands.
Even though Micah timed really bad I think he is a good hard nosed football player. His proday will be very important for him. If he doesn't improve those times he might not hear his name called at all.
Cook is a 6'2" corner just the way Reese likes them. He'll excell in zone coverage and he does have good ball skills. He doesn't just look great on paper, he can play.
Selvie had the spot light takin from him a bit but he has ton of potential.
A.J. Hawk is not a fit for the 3-4. THe packers signed Chillar to a big contract and have Burnett and high expectations for Bishop. They are Loaded at the position and need help at s, rb, and oline. Seubert is still a good player and well thought of in wisconssin. Hawk is due 4.6m in salary next season and 10m the following year. Paying that kinda money to a guy who will ride the pine is very unlikely. It's cut him and get nothing or trade him for a starting og and another player. 6th round picks go a long way in today's NFL.

I Don't mind the Jones pick, remember it wasn't that long agao he was considered a first round possibility.
I do prefer Linvsl Joseph to be honest, but he will likely be available a little later.
I am not sure I am a big fan of Cook, but he is a reasonable value pick there
I am not a fan of Micah though, he will have the same kind of problems as Pierce with coverage in my opinion. We already have a thumper on the roster in Goff.
I would rather Sean Lee or either of the Iowa lads Pat Angerer or AJ Edds
But I certainly like your thinking, nice work.

Re: The Big Blue Print: 2.5
yeah, Art Jones may have been a second rounder after his junior year. Unfortunately, first year Syracuse coach, Doug Marone talked Jones out of it and then Jones gets hurt his senior season and draft stock dropped.
Bad luck.
I disagree though Pete. I don't see Pierce resemblance in Micah Johnson at all. Johnson plays much faster imo.
Johnson actually had a pretty good pro day at Kentucky and all his numbers improved compared to combine numbers.
I think he has even faster field speed than his numbers would indicate.
This being said. It's a big doubt that he comes in to be a starter. I simply like his value and potential at where he'll likely be drafted.

Re: The Big Blue Print: 2.5
Yea Micah Johnson did very well in his short shuttle. That helped save him. I agree with you TD, he plays very instinctive and much faster than he times. I might have to redo it now. I'm not so sure he makes it to the 5th.

Re: The Big Blue Print: 2.5
Micah Johnson lacks top end speed and is average in coverage in my opinion.
He is pretty much a two down thumper in the middle,
I think Goff is a better fit with more upside than Johnson
I am happy to be wrong, but don't think I am

Re: The Big Blue Print: 2.5
Based on his pro day 40 time he isn't much slower than McClain. Its his short shuttle that was very good. Thats nice to see. Not sure if you watched him play but you could really see the difference between his Junior and Senior seasons. I was lucky enough to catch a few games. AS a Junior he was close to 245, as a senior he was 260. He needs to drop the weight. If he does he'll be a player. He had a hell of a game against Tennessee this past season.
