The Giants are rather sensitive about player visits

Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on April 14, 2010 5:16 PM ET

We hear all the time that draft prospect visits to NFL teams don't signify much. Yet some teams protect the information of who visits very closely, which indicates the opposite.

Mike Garafolo of the Newark Star-Ledger tweeted Wednesday about the Giants practice of scaring the "bejesus out of every agent in the biz." The team reportedly threatens to cancel visits if the agents let the cat out of the bag about their clients heading to New Jersey.

Some visits inevitably are revealed anyway. But why do the Giants care so much?

The answer can be seen on the Giants roster. Clint Sintim, Travis Beckum, and Ramses Barden are among the '09 Giants draft picks that took pre-draft visits last year.

Some teams don't seem to care if this news gets out; a few even announce them. The Giants, on the other hand, clearly believe letting this information become public could be damaging.

This make alot of sens, and there have been a few other cases as well such as including Mario Manningham.

It does mean that the guys who have been in for visits are players the Giants are seriously interested in.

Don't be surprised if around half the players we draft are on this list

Making a List. I’ve been trying to keep up with the list of draft prospects that have reportedly been linked to the Giants as either local visits or part of their 30 allotted visits. Here’s what I have so far…

LB Denzell Burrell, Virginia
DT Nate Collins, Virginia
FB Jack Corcoran, Rutgers
C/G Phil Costa, Maryland
OT Anthony Davis, Rutgers
TE Shamar Graves, Rutgers
OT Kevin Haslam, Rutgers
DE Jerome Hayes, Penn State
DT Daryl Jackson, Kean
S Zaire Kitchen, Rutgers
LB Sean Lee, Penn State
DT Sean Lissemore, William & Mary
TE Steve Maneri, Rutgers
LB Rolando McClain, Alabama
TE Fendi Onobun, Houston
TE Jesse Rack, Buffalo
QB Dominic Randolph, Holy Cross
LB Vincent Rey, Duke
RB David Sinsi, Monmouth
DE Adrian Tracy, William & Mary

For those of you keeping score at home, this list includes four tight ends, four linebackers, five defensive linemen (three tackles and two ends), two offensive tackles, one center/guard, one quarterback, one running back, one safety and one fullback
