The Record
The Giants placed safety Michael Johnson on injured reserve Tuesday because of a back problem and added defensive back Brian Jackson from their practice squad. Johnson, a four-year veteran, is unable to play because of a herniated disk. He was a seventh-round draft pick from Arizona in 2007, and has started 35 games and five postseason games.

Jackson spent training camp as a free agent with the Jets and gained "Hard Knocks" fame by being the rookie who was hazed unmercifully by the veterans during one episode. He was signed to the Giants’ practice squad Sept. 9 after being waived by the Jets two days earlier. He could give the Giants’ struggling special teams a needed lift on punt and kickoff coverage.

The 6-foot, 200-pound Jackson started 26 games at Oklahoma and had 137 tackles, seven interceptions, 18 passes defensed, three forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries. He led the Sooners with four interceptions last season.
