Giants news brief
• Tom Coughlin said S Kenny Phillips’ surgery was “very positive” and that “the doctors felt good about it.”
• DE Justin Tuck practiced and CB Kevin Dockery “did well” according to Coughlin. WR Hakeem Nicks “did pretty much everything. There was no limitation on him” according to Coughlin. The head coach also said LB Clint Sintim practiced and did a good job and is doing “more each time.”
• CB Aaron Ross (hamstring) said he knew during individuals on Wednesday that something was still wrong and stopped practicing. He is frustrated and he thought he might have had a chance to play this week or was at least hopeful of it. Looks like he is going to rest it some more.
• RB Ahmad Bradshaw sounds like he is definitely going to play Sunday and said he is just resting his ankle for now. OC Kevin Gilbride said he’d be shocked if Bradshaw doesn’t play.
• RB Brandon Jacobs would not answer any questions about FOX analysts hinting that he’s tip-toeing when running. It’s a good bet you will see a motivated Jacobs on Sunday against Kansas City, which had trouble containing Philadelphia rookie RB LeSean McCoy last week.

Re: Giants news brief
It is good to hear about Kenny Phillips. I must admit to being a little skeptical when we first got him, but he is a good kid.
I think in some ways having the team beat up a bit actually helps us from being over confident. We have a few backups in (and more will have a chance to get on the field); these guys know they have to grab every opportunity they get. It also means our backups have experience. And that our roster will probably get healthier as the season progresses.
Our team attiude, depth and open competition in camp are what makes this team able to cope so well with injuries. Interestingly now that Plax is gone and our passing game has adapted, the same can be said for WR as the other positions (outside of QB)
