Certainly not big surprise here but I'm glad it happened quickly. The Giants will have plenty of time looking for a replacement since they failed to make it to the post-season playoffs.

The early candidate choice could possibly be Dick Jauron who was fired earlier this season by The Buffalo Bills. Jauron has also worked under Coughlin before as defensive coordinator of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

I like Jauron as a DC option

Going back to when Jauron was DC for the Jaguars under Coughlin, they had both Marcus Stroud and John Henderson. Don't be surprised if DT is a priority next offseason.

I think our DT additions were very dissapointing this season. We have over 60 million dollars wrapped up in Bernard and Canty and we got like 1 sack and 35 tackles between the both of them.

Bernard and Robbins are gone imho

I think Canty was ok at times, but he missed too much time early to make a good adjustment to our system. He will be alot better next year.

Jauron would be great, but this defense needs some play makers. If Phillips comes back strong he'll be one of them, but they need a guy that the other QB has to look at on every presnap. Someone who can take over a game, hopefully at LB, an Armstead type. I'm not saying the next coming of LT but a damn good LBer.

Actually I think the defense already has a few legitimate playmakers (Tuck, Osi, Kiwi, Boley, Thomas, Phillips, Alford etc).

I suspect we need those physically dominant players that will give the playmakers space to do what they do.

The whole team need to be more physical and nasty.
