*In other guard news, the Giants have been awarded offensive guard Kurt Quarterman off waivers from the Atlanta Falcons. Quarterman, 6-4 and 350 pounds, spent most of the 2007 season on the Falcons’ practice squad. He was signed to the active roster on Christmas Day and was inactive for Atlanta’s regular season finale. Quarterman was originally signed by the Falcons as a rookie free agent on May 1, 2007. He was waived last Friday.

Quarterman played in 45 games with 32 starts at Louisville, where he started all 24 games in his final two seasons. He was a three-year starter at Westover High School in Albany, Ga., where he was also a three-time state champion in the shot put and discus. He was born on Oct. 5, 1985.

That is two young road graders the Giants have brought in this year.

It looks like they are wanting to upgrade the Oline; Rich Seubert's spot is the most likely under challenge this season.

Although the biggest risk for Seubert is for Whimper to emerge at LT allowing Diehl to move inside.
