Should we sign a FA CB?
Bruce Johnson is out for the year and it looks like Prince will be out 4-8 weeks at least and needs surgery (plus he has a heck of a learning curve ahead of him)
Do we need to consider a free agent CB?
plus Aaron Ross at looked spotty in coverage (though extra work may help)
and remember Terrell Thomas is expected to fill the Deon Grant role.
so a case could e made that we need more CB help
options include former eagle Lito Sheppard, former Giants Kevin Dockery and Will James, Kelvin Hayden (Colts), Randall Gay (Saints), Brian Williams (Falcons) and Ashton Youboty (Bills)
any thoughts?

I don't think its a question of should we, we have to sign a CB.

I'd like us to grab Hayden but I don't think he'll sign here for vet min let alone the 4th spot at CB.

Re: Should we sign a FA CB?
Losing Bruce Johnson is easy to forget. The only thing he had going for him was he knew the playbook. He gets burnt way too often. I know Coughlin liked him though.
I think losing Prince will put a damper on things. This will put him too far behind now to be of much use this season.
So yeah, see whats available. Maybe sign Grant so we have some versatility with the DB's

Re: Should we sign a FA CB?
The problem with Prince is that he had a huge learning curve anyways, don't expect him to contribute too much this year other than a few spot roles and special teams.
Ross is the big winner here.
Grant's not coming back, they already have given that role to Terrell Thomas

I agree Hayden would be a good signing.
It wouldn't have to be vet minimum, we have the money we were ready to give Boss.
This is how I see it, we are going to use a lot of nickle sets with Terrell Thomas filling the same role Deon Grant did last year (which is an excellent fit imho). But that means starting accross from Webster we have Ross and....
Ross hasn't set the world on fire so far, someone like Hayden would get a shot at considerable playing time.
plus you want depth at CB, they tend to get banged up.

Re: Should we sign a FA CB?
Thomas was filling Grants 3rd safety spot because we were loaded a CB. Now we are thin at CB, things have changed. It seems Sash is having a hell of a camp though so he may end up being the 3rd Safety now.
I'd like to bring in Hayden but like I said in the other thread I want to see who is cut at roster cuts and how well these guys we have there now perform in the Preseason.
Another random thought. .. . Lets get an actual 3 down backer so we don't have to rely on this 3 safety formation.

Maybe they don't sign him but it would make sense if they did.Big_Pete wrote:Grant's not coming back, they already have given that role to Terrell Thomas
Grant is a solid starter then Sash behind him. Terrell Thomas starting cornerback with Aaron Ross behind him.
It's an easy solution to the problem.

Re: Should we sign a FA CB?
He is still available and won't be too expensive, could be a nice pick up
