It's hard to argue with him. Philly did make some splashes.
Although the Giants didn't do a lot still doesn't mean they will be a bad team though.
I think our O-line got stronger with Baas at center and more athletic with Beatty at left tackle.
Eli still has two very good targets in Nicks and Manningham.
Our defense especially linebackers look more mobile than in years past.
Our defensive line looks awesome.
And Aaron Ross put two good games together after a terrible first preseason game.
If we can stay healthy then the Giants can compete with the best of them.

Re: Phil Steele: Giants Did Nothing in Free Agency
I think he is being a little harsh. Firstly with the salary cap being much lower than expected, it has really severely limited what the giants have been able to do.
With the benefit of hindsight there are a couple of moves the giants should have done such as keeping cofield and boss, but remember at the time we still had further contracts in the works too. We did manage to keep kiwi, Bradshaw, boothe keep osi somewhat happy this year. Plus baas is a real stud, you will see.
You have to remember the giants are unlikely to splash big money. Sure a stud lb would have been nice, in particular we could have had Tulloch cheaply. But that is how it goes sometimes.
The giants are a team that builds through the draft. Also you have to factor in that the giants will get 2 or 3 compensation picks for our net losses in free agency (boss, smith, cofield, less baas)
