The loss was potentially costly for the Giants, who saw several of their young players go down with injuries. The most serious appears to be to rookie linebacker Jonathan Goff, who suffered a fractured transverse process in the second quarter. Head coach Tom Coughlin sounded very grim about Goff’s immediate future, although the rookie will be examined further when the team returns to Albany at which time a decision will be made about his status.

Also injured was DE Robert Henderson, who left the game in the third quarter to have X-rays on his ankle. No word on the severity of his injury. He was joined by defensive end Wallace Gilberry, who suffered an ankle injury, tight end Jerome Collins, who had cramps, and running back Danny Ware, who suffered a stinger but returned to the game.

Horrible news for Goff, he was really looking the goods

If Goff has to go on IR, do the Giants need to bring in another LB?

Its a part of the vertabra. The Spinal muscles attach to the Transverse Process.

I don't know how you break that in a game.

being a broken bone it will take at least 6 weeks to heal

but i could also require surgery in which case his season could be done.

Even after it heals he is going to need some rehab to get into playing shape putting him towards the end of the season at best.

being his spine, I really hope (and expect) the medical staff to err on the side of caution.

I guess the question is what young LBs are available and who may become a casualty from another team?

With Wilkinson and now Goff hurt, should the Giants consider trading for a solid LB?

Alot could hinge on Wilkinson, if he is close to being heathy or if there is lingering problems from his injury.

If Wilkinson cannot get healthy (and soon) we could have some depth issues
