Anquan Boldin on the Giants' radar
from espn's rumours 13th March
The team that is arguably in greatest need of a top-tier wide receiver is the New York Giants. The team's run-heavy strategy was surely a hit with football purists, but here are the facts: in 2007, Plaxico Burress was on the field and the team won the Super Bowl. Through the first 11 weeks of 2008, Burress was on the field and the team had just one loss. In the remaining six weeks of the regular season, Burress was not on the field and the team went 3-3 before losing a home playoff game to the hated Philadelphia Eagles. Clearly this team can be transformed by another standout wide receiver, and Boldin would surely fit the bill. Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News has vetted this possibility through his sources with the team, and they have not ruled out the possibility of Boldin playing for Big Blue in 2009. The Giants would likely part ways with one of their many starter-caliber defensive linemen as well as one of ten draft picks, and would also need to show some finesse with the salary cap in order to afford Boldin.
Of course, the Giants might also go after Torry Holt, who many believe is set to be released before Tuesday
