Depsite being a excellent candidate to be head coach, Spags may struggle to get a top job

nfl.com is reporting that Spagnuolo may have difficulty in getting a top job

http://www.nfl.com/videos?videoId=09000d5d80de9414

Basically due to his limited time to ausition, he really has to blow the sock off the guys at interview (remember he has alot of interviews in a single day). Otherwise owners and gms will move ob with other candidates to get the job done.

Thinking about this it makes a ton of sense, you aren't going to put on hold the recruitment of a key position for what may be several weeks in order to wait for a candidate you aren't sure on. They need to get coaches on board so they can evealuate their rosters, needs etc so they can do full preparation for the combine, draft and free agency; thats alot of work to do in a short time.

It is very likely that the best thing the Giants can do to keep Spagnuolo is to keep going in the playoffs. Spags situation could be very similar to Weis/Crennel who were strong candidates for a long time before getting their chances.

btw they are also reporting that Eric Mangini is very likely to get the Browns job; even as far as sounding out a coaching staff.

from espn.com

Mangini in line for Browns: Former Jets coach Eric Mangini apparently feels good about his chances for being the next coach of the Browns. He is calling assistant coaching candidates trying to line them up for spots with Cleveland. There is no question Mangini is the leading candidate for the job.

What in the world are the Browns thinking lol!
Maybe if that doesn't work out they can steal away Herm Edwards from the Chiefs
