Giants | Could show interest in Chris Hovan

The New York Giants could express an interest in soon-to-be free-agent DT Chris Hovan (Buccaneers), reports Ralph Vacchiano, of The New York Daily News. Hovan is set to be released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Giants defensive line coach Rob Nunn was the co-defensive line coach with the Bucs last year.

Hovan's not an upgrade over Rocky Bernard at this point.
He plays with a lot of heart though, I'll give him that.

I am not buying it too much

Hovan is pretty much a pure 3 Technique DT, and we have Canty, Alford and even Cofield all of whom are better and younger.

As far as NT goes, we have Joseph and Cofield both of whom are better.

That's all speculation by Ralph. I remember we gave him a look before he went to Tampa and passed then. I couldn't imagine we take him now. Henderson is scheduled to visit after he visits with kansas city on Wednesday. He's more in the lines of what we are looking for.
