South Florida defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul visited the Giants this week

By the time the NFL Draft starts next Thursday, we’ll have linked about half of the projected first-round picks to the Giants at No. 15. That’s the way it works when you have months and months of chatter leading up to such an event.
Some names, like Alabama linebacker Rolando McClain, have been tied to the Giants for months. But there are always a few late entrants who start finding their way into the team’s slot in mock drafts.
Lately one of those hot names has been South Florida defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul, a raw pass rusher who played only one season of major college football. And this bit of news will likely only contribute to the Pierre-Paul buzz: he visited the Giants earlier this week, according to someone who saw Pierre-Paul in the team’s facility. The person requested anonymity because the Giants don’t want their visits to be divulged publicly.
Pierre-Paul’s visit is interesting because Tom Coughlin attended South Florida’s pro day. I can only assume he had time to chat with the 6-5, 270-pounder. (I’m not sure if Jerry Reese was at the USF pro day because only Coughlin has been mentioned in reports.) Obviously, the Giants wanted to know more about Pierre-Paul and therefore brought him in to East Rutherford.
Pierre-Paul, who had 6 1/2 sacks for the Bulls last season, combines very good size with outstanding speed, quickness and agility. (He even comes complete with the proverbial YouTube clip displaying athletic ability that has absolutely nothing to do with football.) But his lack of experience makes him a project and, consequently, a risk. Pierre-Paul’s agent Drew Rosenhaus thinks his client will be a top-10 pick. But I’m not sure when he became anointed as a draft expert, so take that for what it’s worth. (And Omar Kelly of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel wisely notes it's worth double.)
Perhaps the Giants are hoping Rosenhaus is wrong and will take a risk on Pierre-Paul because they already have three very good defensive ends. Of course, moving forward, they might soon be forced to say goodbye to one of them, as Mathias Kiwanuka is entering the final year of his contract while Osi Umenyiora will make a big stink about a new deal if he returns to top form this season. In other words, Pierre-Paul could work for them as a long-term addition to their pass rush while perhaps also serving as a warning shot across Umenyiora’s bow.
Oh, and as always, you can never have enough pass … never mind.

Pierre-Paul would be an interesting choice and certainly enough to keep Osi motivated moving forward.

It is interesting considering we would have to move up in order to grab him. But it's like they anything that happens within a week of the draft you shouldn't pay any attention to.
