With word from the Associated Press that Michael Boley will require 8 to 10 weeks of recovery after hip surgery, the question mark at weakside linebacker for the New York Giants has been reinstated.

It's probable that the team will stick with the triumvirate of Gerris Wilkinson, Bryan Kehl and Chase Blackburn to fill the role at WLB in the short term, but there is a buzz that the team could take a look at free agent Derrick Brooks should Boley suffer any setbacks in recovery.

Brooks still appears healthy after not missing any action in 2008, but would be well-suited to be part of a timeshare, a situation that the Giants would provide.
