Michael Matthews has been traded for a conditional 2011 draft pick

this is interesting, particularly since the patriots traded TE David Thomas from the Patriots in exchange for an undisclosed 2011 draft pick.

I'm glad to see the Giants got a draft pick out of Mathews. (likely a 6th or 7th) I'm still puzzled over the fact that they even let him go though.

Mathews provided good talent and depth as a blocking TE. He also displayed decent hands when needed.
Not only that but he was our only reliable back-up at the fullback position. A very good utility player he is.

From what I understand... he even chose the Giants when the Patriots wanted him as an undrafted rookie free agent. At least he got a SB win with the Gmen.

My thoughts is that neither Johnson or Matthews really impressed all that much
